Following up on the visit of a group of Galician Students in Dreieich, the Power of the Triangle, a project developed by three schools in Hesse and Galicia has now arrived in Vigo. After visiting cultural and natural heritage sites such as Prado and Reina Sofía museums in Madrid, Santiago Pilgrim Cathedral and Cíes Islands in Galicia, 16 MES Students majoring in engineering and ICT are currently participating in VET related activities at Fillas de María Inmaculada and Colexio Hogar Afundación Vocational Training centers. Two geodesic domes of 5 meters in diameter will be jointly built by the students of the three educational centers. The domes will remain at the Spanish schools as gifts. The inauguration of the first cupola built on Tuesday 13th at Fillas de María Inmaculada VET school immediately turned into an intercultural celebration. Students spontaneously turned the dome into a dancefloor and taught each other traditional dances from their different countries and regions of origin such as Albania, Syria, Brazil and many more.
MES is deeply grateful to the Spanish partner schools for accommodating the German students and providing workshops in the areas of robotics, welding, textile print as well a company tour to visit a local shipyard.
Heath instructor Susanne Frey is accompanying the group completing a job shadowing program entailing the visit to heath related VET training classes, a residency for elderly nuns, as well as interviews with professionals to gain insights into the Spanish health care system.
